Centralize!

I’m not happy with having my interactions with my social network be isolated in the walled gardens of Facebook, Verizon text messages and GMail. I love being able to search all of GMail since so much of my exchanges with friends are through gChat or email. With Facebook, at least I get to keep the content, but it is diffused between Wall posts and Inbox messages which aren’t searchable. Texts? Well I have to delete those every 100 received. Would it really cost Verizon too much to keep that data and make a simple web service?

Conclusion:

I’m tired of telecoms not innovating (faster Internet in the form of FiOS is not innovation, it is iteration).

I’m tired of Facebook not playing nice with others (try DataPortability, Zuckerberg, please).

I still love GMail.
